Dolores M. Ward, age 92, a longtime Ardentown, DE resident passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, January 2, 2017.

Dolores was born on August 26, 1924 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania to Mildred (Smurl) and James Mullaney.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Charles L. Ward on May 22, 1989 and her son, Thomas E. Ward on February 14, 2015.

She is survived by her six children, Sharon Ward, Charles (Hope) Ward, Mary Ann (Don) Holcomb, William Ward, George (Liz) Ward and Joseph (Trish) Ward, all of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Thomas (Jennifer) Ward, Jennifer (Michael) Walker, Heather Polchito, Charles and Daniel Ward, Daryl, Donny and Kimberly Holcomb, Seth and Shannon Ward, Derek Pierce, Michael, Justin and Cameron Ward and Joseph Ward. Also left to cherish her memory are her great-grandchildren, Samantha Walker, Sara Deskar, Mika, Magdalene, Emma and Myles Walker, Lydell and Tierra Dorsey, Aidan, Lexi, Mackenzie and Riley Childress and JulieAnn Ward. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Mildred Amadio and family, along with a host of nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by Christian Zuber and family who she loved as her own.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30am, Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where friends may visit with the family from 9:30am – 10:30am.. Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
