A resident of Claymont, DE and Centerville, MD, Elmer M. "Reds" Morgan passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at his home in Claymont, Delaware, surrounded by his family. He was 90 years old on January 31, 2017.

Mr. Morgan was the son of the late Charles Hiram and Melthy Elizabeth (Trice) Morgan. Mr. Morgan, his 3 brothers, and 3 sisters grew up in Claymont, Delaware.

Mr. Morgan served in the Navy on the USS Guam, where he was an Armorer. He married Betty Lee Waldron on January 10, 1947. When he left the Navy, Mr. Morgan worked for Delmarva Power and Light for over 30 years, retiring in 1983 as a Construction Manager.

Mr. Morgan was a long time member of Holly Oak Methodist Church. He was very active in the community, including being a leader for the Indian Guides, coaching bowling for kids, acting President of the CYAA, and working to secure lights for the Baseball Little League and CYAA football fields. In later years, Mr. Morgan was a proud member of the Claymont ROMEO Club.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his son, Brian Lee Morgan, and his wife, Betty Lee (Waldron) Morgan. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Charles, Edward and Jimmy, as well as his sisters, Evelyn and Fannie. Mr. Morgan is survived by his sister, Ann Emerson, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Mr. Morgan's caregiver, Norys, for her tireless dedication to his care. In addition, the family would like to thank Christiana Care's Respiratory Department and the Wilmington ICU nursing staff for the care given to Mr. Morgan during his illness.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, where friends may visit with the family, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.

Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made in honor of his late son, Brian Lee Morgan, to the National MS Society Delaware Chapter, 2 Mill Road, Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19806.
