Genevieve L. Miller, age 86, of Olde New Castle, DE, died on Monday, September 26th, 2016. She was born in the summer of 1930. Genevieve graduated from H.F. Brown Vocational High School. Afterwards, she enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. After the war, she returned home to earn a Bachelor of Science from East Stroudsburg State Teachers College in PA. She taught in Edison Township, NJ. Genevieve held a Masters of Elementary from the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ. She also held a Masters of Administration from Kean University in Newark, NJ and an Ed.D in Social and Philosophical Foundations of Education from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. After 36 years, she retired as an Elementary School Principal.

Genevieve served as a Council Member on the New Castle City Council. She was the first female to hold the seat as Council President. During her free time , she was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the theater, opera, and traveling whenever possible.

Genevieve was predeceased by her parents, Arthur A. Miller and Genevieve L. (Schuchardt) Miller and her sister, Helena.

She is survived by cousins with whom she shared fond memories throughout her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 3rd, 2016 at 11 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Church at 5th and Harmony Street in New Castle. Friends and family may call at 10 AM at the Church for the visitation hour. The burial will immediately follow Mass in the adjoining cemetery.
