Gilbert M. Hargan, Jr. of Claymont, DE went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2017 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.

Gilbert was the son of the late Rose and Gilbert Hargan, Sr. He was a member of Atonement United Methodist Church. Gilbert graduated from Claymont High School in 1963. Then, he was employed with Congoleum as a Fork Lift Operator, supervising many jobs in the warehouse until he retired.

Gilbert had many illnesses and struggled, starting at birth, but he always had a positive attitude. He had fought the good fight of faith and ran the race with perseverance, finishing the course into the loving arms of Jesus.

Gilbert had many interests including reading and studying the Bible, history, inventions, cars, etc. He also enjoyed sports and cooking with his brother, Marty. He was a loving and caring person who was always helping everyone who needed help. He enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda and Audrey; brothers, Phillip and Allen.

Gilbert is survived by two sisters, Jessie and Sylvia; one brother, Martin.

The family would like to thank everyone with sincere appreciation who cared for Gilbert with love, respect and compassion.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 11 am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703. The visitation will begin at 10 am at the funeral home. The burial service will immediately follow the service in the Cherry Hill Cemetery in Elkton, MD.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gilbert may be made to Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713; or to Atonement United Methodist Church, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703.
