Joseph Edward Turchen, Sr. age 66, of Wilmington, Delaware, formerly of Chester, PA, died on November 3, 2016 in Christiana Hospital.

Joseph graduated from Chester High School, Class of 1968. He was formerly employed by Kiddie World and Holiday Lanes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jean Turchen, and his father and mother in law, James and Dolores Elder.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 31 years, Susan Elder Turchen; his son, Joseph Turchen; his grandson, Kole Aloysius Turchen; his dogs Casey and Ruby; his uncle and aunt, Robert and Diane Turchen; his brother in law, Michael Elder and his wife, Edna Mae, brother in law, Douglas Elder and his wife, Nancy, brother in law, David Elder and his wife, Shannon; a host of nephews and niece; and great nephews and a great niece.

A viewing will be held at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703 on Wednesday, November 9, 2016, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, where a Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made to Claymont Fire Company, 3223 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703; or to House of Hope Animal Rescue, 31 Sparrow Way, Elkton, MD 21921.
