Kathleen E. (Matarese) Hayes "Kay", 78 of Claymont, DE passed away on March 3, 2017. Kay was born on January 29, 1939 to the late Joseph and Marguerite Matarese.

Kay devoted her life to being a "domestic goddess" raising and caring for her family and friends and hosting gatherings but her greatest love was caring for the kids she had in her daycare.

Kay was also predeceased by daughter, Patricia M.; son, Mark A.; brother, George Matarese; and sisters, Rosemary Dougherty and Janet DeGregory.

Kay is survived by her husband, Robert T. "Bob"; daughter, Kathy Sammons (Tim); son, Robert T.; and 2 granddaughters, Amber and Tyler. Also surviving are brothers, Frank Matarese, Joe Matarese (Sandee), Jimmy Matarese (Eileen); and sister, Theresa Longobardi.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 3200 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 DuPont Hwy., New Castle, DE.
