Mark S. Gland, age 56, of Delaware City, DE, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2016. He leaves behind his beloved son, Zachary R. Gland, of Delaware City, DE, his mother, Hedy A. Gland of New Castle, DE, and his loving companion, Kathy Sobus, of Wilmington, DE.

Mark , who was raised in New Castle, DE, and went to William Penn High School, was a contractor and owned the Mark Gland Company, specializing in historic restorations, for more than 30 years. He also served as Chairman of the Delaware City Historic Preservation Commission for many years.

A lover and photographer of nature and wildlife, Mark also volunteered to wash oiled birds at Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, and helped build the aviary at their present location.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Sliverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Ave. Wilmington, DE. 19805.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research, 170 Possum Hollow Road, Newark, DE 19711.
