Love Emblem

Rebecca A. DeToro, age 82, of New Castle, Delaware, passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital surrounded by family on Monday, May 2, 2016.

Becky was born in Crisfield, Maryland, in 1933 to Harry J. and Flora Branner. She graduated from nursing school in Wilmington, Delaware, and enjoyed a long career serving the community as a registered nurse. One of her favorite positions was working at the drug detox center in Wilmington, concluding her career with the Visiting Nurse Association. Reading, painting, gardening, listening to music, and watching Law and Order marathons were among her many passions, but she got her greatest pleasure from spending time with her family and celebrating their many accomplishments.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Raymond DeToro of New Castle, and her sister Mary Lou George. She is survived by her son Chris DeToro and wife Laurette; daughter Robin Cebenka and husband Ted; and daughter Monica Taylor and husband Darryl; her grandchildren Christopher (Nicole), Devin, Taylor, and Ryen DeToro; Sasha Wright and Chelsea Cebenka; and Brie and Larson Taylor; her great-grandchildren Aaliyah, Isaiah, Jy'Air, Jayden, and Xavier; her sister Jackie Zane and brother Harry Branner; nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion Gypsy.

Friends and family may visit from 9:30 to 10:15, on Saturday morning, May 7, at New Castle United Methodist Church, 510 Delaware Street, New Castle. Services will immediately follow at 10:30. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Hwy, New Castle, Delaware.
