Roy I. Covey. Sr, "Buzzy" 76 of Claymont, DE passed away on January 1, 2017 at home.

Born in Elkton, MD, on October 23, 1940, Mr. Covey was the son of the late Roy F. Covey and Emma Seymour Covey. Mr. Covey worked for General Motors (GM) in Wilmington, DE for 30 years. Following retirement from GM, he held several positions at WAWA markets. Then, with Atlantic Logistics Agency, he transported tug boat pilots between ports. Mr. Covey served as a Mariner in the United States Merchant Marine and was a lifetime member of the Parkside Fire Department in Parkside, PA. He was an active member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America and a Freemason for a number of years. He became a vigilant member in the neighborhood watch in Claymont and Ocean View, Delaware.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly A. Covey (Zebley); brothers, William and John Paul Covey; sisters, Lorraine Willey and Rose Marie Roberts; and grandson, David (Scotty) Griggs. He is survived by his children, Laurie Sisk (Robert) of Felton, DE, Roy I. Covey, Jr. (Delores) of Upland, PA, Sandra Pfarner (LeRoy) of Claymont DE, Penny Jo Nagy (Kenneth) of Upland, PA and Dawn Marie Rowley (Michael) of North Carolina; 3 sisters, Agnes Poore, Mary Kilmer and Ruth Ann Haslam; 14 grandchildren, Nicole Sisk, Robert "B.J." Covey, Roy "T.C." Covey III, Jackie Nagy, Samantha Covey, Shawn Nagy, Michael Rowley, Stephon Rowley, Thomas Rowley, Justin Griggs, Lisa Rowley, LeRoy Pfarner, Patrick Murray and Joseph Thorton; and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 6, 2017, 11am at Gebhart Funeral Home, 3401 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE 19703, where friends may visit with the family from 9am – 11am. Burial will be in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, PA.
